Recent Victories The following true cases are examples of the quality of our work: Department of Real Estate: A real estate sales license applicant was denied a license due to four DUI convictions. After negotiations with the DRE, a restricted license was granted. Medical Board of California: A physician's license was suspended for sexual conduct with patients. A revocation hearing was set, and the Board suggested he simply give up his license. After a hearing before the Medical Board, the Board agreed to reinstate the license on probation. Medical Board of California: The Attorney General sought to suspend a physician's license in criminal court under Penal Code §23 after a physician was charged with felony embezzlement. Attorney Ray fought the motion and won. The physician's license was not suspended, and the physician was permitted to practice while the criminal case was pending. Department of Real Estate: A mortgage broker was accused of deceiving borrowers with false statements. After the hearing, the judge agreed with Attorney Ray that the accusations were without merit and dismissed the case. Department of Insurance: A life agent was convicted of theft. The Insurance Commissioner pursued revocation of his license. After a hearing handled by Mr. Ray, the life agent's license was restricted for two years with no interruption of license privileges. Board of Registered Nursing: A nurse had been convicted of child abuse. Mr. Ray negotiated with the Nursing Board and obtained probation without a license suspension. Chiropractic Board Investigation: A chiropractor was accused of sexual relationship with a patient and negligent treatment. Our attorney letter to the Board in response to the initial inquiry resulted in the case being dropped. Board of Vocational Nursing: Male nurse was accused of assaulting a psychiatric patient, The Board asked for revocation of his license. Mr. Ray proved at hearing that the accusation was false. Case dismissed. Notary Public: An individual who had a robbery felony was denied a Notary Public commission under new guidelines that ban commissions for such individuals. After a successful hearing and direct appeal to the Secretary of State, the Secretary of State reversed his decision and granted the commission. Multi-Agency Cases: Department of Insurance and Department of Real Estate: A broker was convicted of selling a fake work permit. The broker had lost her license after an unsuccessful hearing, Mr. Ray appealed the revocation, which was overturned on appeal. A full unrestricted license was returned to the broker. The same individual then received an Accusation for her real estate sales license, due to the same conviction. Mr. Ray negotiated a restricted real estate sales license, with no suspension period. Department of Insurance and Department of Real Estate: A broker had convictions for being under the influence of drugs and reckless driving involving alcohol. Mr. Ray first guided the client through dismissal of the under the influence charge in criminal court. Then, at a hearing before the Department of Insurance, the broker's insurance license was saved with no suspension, only restriction. The same individual then received a denial of a real estate sales license. Mr. Ray negotiated the issuance of a restricted real estate sales license, with no other penalty.
