As California's premier professional license defense firm, we have the knowledge, experience, and skill to help you.

Our practice is limited to representing California professionals like you.

Ray & Bishop PLC is a boutique law firm practicing one kind of law: professional license defense. Our office consists of three full-time attorneys who practice before nearly every state agency in California. Our clients and colleagues know us for our dependability, experience, skill, and integrity. We are hired because of our reputation and our results. Many of our clients find us through word-of-mouth referrals. Every case that is personally handled by one of our attorneys receives the value of many years of professional expertise. We defend professional license holders from accusations, fight the denial of licenses, protect licensees under investigation, appeal adverse licensing agency decisions, and offer complete license law service from application to the completion of a long, successful career.

How do I contact you?

Please call (949) 557-4888 or (800) 474-6911 for an appointment today. We can also be reached by e-mail using the contact form on the left side of this page. Your email is directly transmitted to a member of our staff, who will contact you to set up an appointment with one of our attorneys.

When should I contact you?

There is never a bad time to contact a lawyer if you need advice. If you have been turned down or believe you may be turned down for a license, if you are under investigation by your licensing board, if you have received a notice that your license may be suspended or revoked, if you have to disclose adverse information on a license application, or if you have just lost a license hearing, please go to our License Services page for more information about our services.

Who are your attorneys?

Ray & Bishop PLC consists of three full-time attorneys: Fredrick M. Ray, the firm's managing partner, has more than 20 years of experience as a litigator in administrative, civil, and criminal matters. As counsel to thousands of clients, his experience, reputation, and integrity are the foundation of our practice. John D. Bishop has appeared for trial throughout California on behalf of numerous licensed professionals, winning many of the representative cases discussed on our results page. Lindsay M. Johnson, the firm's senior associate, distinguished herself as the most successful student advocate at Chapman University's Fowler School of Law before joining our firm in 2013, and has already achieved unprecedented success for our clients at both the trial and appellate level.
